Born in 1968 and based in Tribeca, New York, Eric Buechel is known as a visual abstract artist and fine art photographer.
The fundamental concentration of his fine art work is an ongoing sequence of
charcoal, graphite & pastels on various substrates of paper.
His works are based in exploring the inner realities and alternative spiritualities that straddles
psychology and science, spirit and matter, reality and imagination. He brings together the traditional Western vision of human consciousness as the privileged center of the Universe, with an evolving sense that all of the nature, conscious or not is interrelated.
His photography is primarily focused on the elements found in nature, nudes and
conceptual images. Buechel, born with a keen eye for the many moods of the natural world and an avid outdoorsman, has been capturing nature for over 25 years.
His Water series vary from breaking waves, raindrops, cascading waterfalls, as well as the serene glassy stillness of the Ocean. These images have a contemplative and meditative quality to them, capturing the essence of stillness in motion.
Eric Buechel’s fine art and photography have been shown in various galleries, commissioned by private collectors, corporate headquarters, hotels and major restaurant groups.
Raised in Northern Wisconsin, he received numerous awards and art scholarships as he studied fine art at The University of Wisconsin 1986-1987.
In 1988, he was invited to attend a year in residence in New York under the auspices of The International Studio & Curatorial Program. In 1988, he was the recipient of The Merit Scholarship of The Minneapolis College of Art & Design, receiving his Bachelor of Fine Art in 1990.
Since then, Eric Buechel’s studio is based in Tribeca, New York where he currently works and lives.
